After flying to Wellington on Wednesday 29 May, the adventurous Wellington weather did its worst on Thursday and quite a few flights were cancelled resulting in a backlog of passengers wanting to fly to Auckland. Air New Zealand addressed this by putting on extra capacity on Friday in the form of an Airbus A321 NEO and Boeing 787-9 ZK-NZN2. It is quite rare to see an Air New Zealand Dreamliner at Wellington.
I was privileged to be there with Planefil to see the Dreamliner depart just before midday, and to meet Lanzi on site on the grassy knoll off Wexford Road, above the Northern end of the airport. The weather was great and it is a really neat place to watch the action.

And there was quite a bit of action, with Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-200 9V-SRM arriving from Melbourne, which provided a unique opportunity to see two heavies at the airport together.
