A really neat shot taken about mid day yesterday by Matt Hayes showing the cold front arriving at Christchurch.
A text book cold front with the roll cloud leading the way; just like the ones we used to get before the War.
Below is another fine pic from Matt - showing the Piper PA-34-200T ZK-DCO (c/n 34-8070354) parked at Ashburton under what we in the trade used to call a "threatening sky".

I spent some time at Wanaka on Friday the 13th and would like to thank all the hangar owners and aircraft operators for their permission to wander about freely.
These first four were shot from the northwest corner of the public car park.
The De Havilland DH 82A Tiger Moth ZK-ALJ is c/n 83499 and is operated by Classic Flights. Note the sealed taxyway and the Tigers tail skid - a noisy combination.
Flying in together were the Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub ZK-BVJ (C/n 18-6180) of the BVJ Syndicate from Rangiora, and the locally based Cub Crafters CC11-160 ZK-PBC2 (c/n CC11-00194)

Below we have the Vans RV 7A ZK-CAE2 (c/n 70213) as listed to  E L Properties Investments Ltd of Hong Kong.

Interesting !
Starlings delight : NZ6468 (c/n 6799/172/CB009) pole mounted at the entrance to Wanaka Airport.
It is lacking wing flaps - I presume they would have been damaged in its undercarriage collapse at Ohakea back on 09-02-2000.

The Lakes Regional Rally was held at Alexandra during the weekend.
Check the Otago Daily Times item :-
From the South Canterbury Gliding Club of Timaru came the Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub ZK-BNM (c/n 18-5178). This has never been an Ag aircraft as in December 1956 it went to the Canterbury Aero Club direct from assembly by Airwork (NZ) Ltd. It spent some time with R R Palmer of Temuka before joining the South Canterbury Gliding Club in July of 1970.
Up from the South Otago Aero Club at Balclutha was the very tidy looking Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee ZK-CUQ (c/n 28-26521).
From Wanaka came the U-Fly (2014) Ltd's Cessna 172M ZK-DHV (c/n 17261063) originally a New Plymouth Aero Club aircraft from 1973.

Also up from Balclutha and the South Otago Aero Club was their Cessna 172P ZK-ETL (c/n 17274310).
