The Cessna U206G Stationair N7391N c/n U20603648 ferried into NZ on 01-03-1977 and was dealt with by Dalhoff and King Aviation Ltd at Ardmore to become ZK-EJH on 26-04-1977 and went on line with the Dalhoff  and King Flying School from the 9th of the following month.
I seem to recall that it struck a fence at Te Araroa towards the end of September of 1977.
It is seen below at Ardmore on 04-09-1979 wearing the "Rex" logo on its fin.
It was sold to Jim Small of Taihoa in the Hakataramea Valley in November of 1981 replacing the                                                Auster J5P Super Autocar ZK-BLZ.
And above we see it on the McCaw gliding strip in the Hakataramea Valley in January of 1982.
(And no - that is not Richie).
Then we see it at Oamaru as race number 26 on an unknown date.
Above at West Melton on 30-03-1989.
Above as seen at West Melton on 16-01-1991
It has been in the Haka Valley ever since but with ownership passing to Nathan Small on 28-02-2004.

 Absolutely Positively Wellington.
You can just see the wind waiting to pounce.
Two of the Wellington Aero Clubs Piper PA-38-112 Tomahawks were out to play.
ZK-ESG is c/n 38-79A0379 has been with the Club since early 2011 - It is still in its basic ex Canterbury Aero Club scheme.
And ZK-TAW is c/n 38-78A0716 returned to the Club in January 2012 having had three previous spells there; and also a stint with the Wellington Flying Centre back in 2005 under its old ZK-JFD letters.
Virgin Australia's Boeing 737-8FE VH-VOY (c/n 33996) is ex ZK-PBD and now carries the name "Brighton Beach".
Below is the QANTAS tin pigeon (or should that be pidgeon ?) Boeing 737-838 ZK-ZQF (c/n 34204) "Abel Tasman". It has been with us since February of 2011.
Thanks to Bargeldo1 for the fine pics from a fine Wellington.

One that seem to have slipped through the gaps is the Robinson R44 Raven II ZK-HLP4 (c/n 11436).
As you can see from the above shot - this flying machine had a life in Australia before coming to NZ. Heliflite Pty Ltd at Bankstown first listed it as VH-HWF on 11-10-2006 before it went onto the books of Westpac Banking Corporation of Concord West, Sydney on 06-12-2006.
They were kind enough to let Elimatta Pty Ltd of Sutton, near Canberra, operate it until it moved on to Peter Antunac of Kenthurst in North Sydney from 01-03-2010 for operations by Aerowasp Pty Ltd out of Camden, NSW.
Photo above shows VH-HWF not long out of its container from Australia.
It is seen here at the Heli Maintenance facility at Christchurch International on 27-08-2014.
Two days later it appeared on the NZ Civil register as ZK-HLP4 with W R and G F Hales of Hanmer Springs.
On 23-09-2014 I caught it below marked up as ZK-HLP at Heli Maintenance.

Built by Kip Netherclift at Napier and first registered in September 1974, Luton Minor ZK-CLL was powered by one of the two the 2 cylinder JAP engines that came with Aeronca ZK-AMW (and is now back in ZK-AMW).  It is photo'd below by Allan Wooller at Porangahau in 1978.

You can see more on the history of ZK-CLL (and our other Luton Minor) at:  www.nzcivair.blogspot.co.nz/2010/10/luton-minors-of-new-zealand.html

Registered to BJ Comerford of Porirua early last month is this smart Eurocopter AS350B2 ZK-HFH. Still wearing the markings of its previous operator, ERA, this example appears to have been manufactured in 1999 and it is the 5th time the registration HFH has been used.

It is pictured below at Ardmore 03 August.

Nicollier HN 700 Menestrel II ZK-TBS

A new homebuilt aircraft type was registered in July, being a Nicollier HN 700 Menestrel II. I have been following the progress of this aircraft over the last few years in Steve Chilcott's hangar at Ardmore and it is beautifully built.  It is Steve's second aircraft, following his Jodel D 18 ZK-SCJ.

The Menestrel is an old-school wood and fabric design that can trace its roots back to the original single seat Menestrel HN 433 which first flew in France in 1962.  The HN 700 first appeared in 1989.

ZK-TBS (c/n 209) was registered to Steve on 7/7/15 and looks really smart.  It is registered as a Class 2 microlight and is powered by a Revmaster engine.

Thanks for the photo Steve.

Kitfox ZK-EWC

Back in August 2014 I did a post on the Denny Kitfox ZK-EWC2.

This is it below.
Wayne Cunningham has been looking around for an aircraft for some months.
Some years ago he managed a flight in the Denny Kitfox IV ZK-EWCas built by Ernie W Colling of Wanaka.
During his recent search he found that this aircraft was again for sale.
It had been purchased from Ernie at Wanaka by Ron Roberts of Timaru on 14-03-2009.
It did not do a lot of aviating with Ron and he was convinced to part with it on 20-07-2014.
So it is now with Wayne and is seen below taxiing back at Taieri very recently.
Sir Minty also did a post covering ZK-EWC in his series covering all of the NZ Kitfox's.
See:-

Sadly it suffered a power loss after take off from Balclutha on 25th July 2015 and was written off in the ensuing forced landing just at the stop bank on the other side of the Clutha River.
Both occupants were injured and spent some time in the Dunedin hospital.

Below we see a few more pics of ZK-EWC.

These first two pics were taken at Ashburton on 07-02-1997.

Above is a shot of it in the hangar at Timaru on 03-05-2009 not long after Ron Roberts had purchased it, and below after I pushed it out into the daylight.

It was hangared in the North Otago Aero Club hangar at Oamaru for a while and was seen there on 01-07-2011.
Ron sold it in July 2014 to Wayne Cunningham and it is seen here taxiing in at Taieri
Below we have a shot of her at Balclutha not long before its accident.
First and last two photos from Wayne Cunningham.
I expect we will see it cancelled from the register very soon.

When I was in Wellington recently I took possibly the world's most boring photo, of Wellington Aero Club's Piper Cherokee ZK-MBG. (Most Boring Garbage)
I wasn't going to post it but I became aware that some readers like this sort of photo.

Another recently registered sports aircraft is this Glasair Sportsman 2+2 that has been imported by the agents Sports Aircraft New Zealand Ltd who are based at Kaipara Flats airfield near Warkworth.  This aircraft originally appeared as the Stoddard Hamilton GlaStar (of which we have had five registered in New Zeakland - and we have one other Sportsman 2+2 and one other Sportsman Carbon Fibre)).  In 2012 the company was bought by a Chinese businessman Mr Fang Tieji who renamed the company as Glasair Aviation USA LLC

ZK-SPZ (c/n 7422) was registered to Tim Harrison of Sports Aircraft New Zealand Ltd on 30/4/15.  It arrived in the country by contaioner in early July and its fiirst flight here was on 1/8/15, flown by Tim Harrison.

Thanks very much for the photo Tim.

Talk about boring !
Another day in the office.
Today's office was the Panorama Ridge high altitude weather station.
Mode of transport was the Hughes 369D ZK-HVT2 (c/n 1090586D) out of Tekapo.
Boring - I think not. One of the best offices in the world.

Always nice is the sound - and then the sight of the ride home approaching.
We always have a plan "B" in case the ride does not arrive.
We are looking down the Godley River with Lake Tekapo in the distance.

Zlin Savage Cub ZK-DAG

Another new sport aircraft from Sports Aircraft New Zealand Ltd is the Zlin Savage Cub ZK-DAG2 (c/n 306) which was registered on 7/7/15 to the ZK-DAG Syndicate of Auckland.  Like ZK-SPZ it also arrived by container in early July.  It is our eighth Zlin Savage although only six are still registered, and it is the second ZK-DAG sport aircraft after Merv Meredith's Minicab which was registered in November 1971.

It is photo'd today by Tim Harrison of Sports Aviation outside their hangar at Kaipara Flats airfield.  Although registered to an Auckland address, it is going to be based at a private airstrip at Wanaka.

Sports Aviation Ltd are the New Zealand agents for Zlin, Glasair, Flight Design and The Aircraft Factory - quite a nice line-up.

Tim Harrison also told me a bit of background to the Glasair Sportsman ZK-SPZ that I posted about yesterday.  It was built by Tim at the Glasair facory in  March under a builder-assist programme called "Two Weeks to Taxi".

Thanks again to Tim for the photos.

Above - the General Dynamics Allison Convair 340/580 ZK-FTA (c/n 168) is a regular at the Air Post facility. Today however it was doing some engine runs at the end of runway 11 at Christchurch International.
On short final was the Guimbal Cabri G2 ZK-HVG3 (c/n 1077) of Christchurch Helicopters 2001 Ltd.

Dyn'Aero MRC01 ULC ZK-ORR (c/n 224).
This aircraft was originally registered as F-PDAI on 2002 and came to NZ to be assembled at Parakai by Leading Edge Aviation in 2011. It first flew there on 28-02-2011.
**********
I caught up with it again as it pounded the circuit at Rangiora back on 25-07-2015 - which just happens to be the day that it was sold by Robbbie Orr to new owner Ross Dawson of Tauranga.

And here it is flying at Tauranga on 28-07-2015 with its new owner, as photo'd by Hairy Mole Rat.  (You will have to trust me that the photo is at Tauranga!)
